The Last Dance, or not!

Writer's picture: Charlotte Serwaa OwusuCharlotte Serwaa Owusu

Taking a stroll to the hills only to paint him black,

She painted memories- absolutely dark

Of how she ended up on the devil's dance floor

He was an angel at first sight and a goal at the first shot

Unknowingly he was a wolf wrapped in the garment of a sheep with a golden heart,

waiting for the day his assignment was due

He was the devil's ally, and she took the last dance with him

The most wonderful piece she ever painted was him

The best poem she wrote was him

But he cut a piece of her heart away, and run off to the dungeons where he belonged

I stare at her and shiver, wondering how love will ever present himself to her again

I smile at her and quiver as she tries to find a new canvas with half a heart and an air of hope

Now this one is promising to take me everywhere

And everywhere can include the devil's dance floor

I have the feet to dance to their tune but I might come back without a heart or

more broken than she is

I pray for myself, never to take the dance because this time, it may be with the devil himself.
