Perfect Distraction

Yesterday I saw a vague sketch filled with meaningless patterns.
Today I saw what I couldn't see yesterday:
Live projections of two hearts in my curtains.
Tomorrow I hope to see diamonds, not stars in my sky.
This is no drama, this is no stage play, not even a wish;
This is a man's perfect distraction from life's military regime
Where you stare into the darkness and watch life slide past you
or walk out with strength and face the battle head-on
regardless of the distractions, because it is perfect and worth the wait

Yesterday, I thought I was strong,
I believed I was strong
Today I am weak and helpless
But tomorrow, I will smile because I found strength in this weakness
I will remember my distractions are perfect
I won't forget I have the most perfect imperfection
There will be nothing to cry for; nothing to weep over again
I shall sit behind the table laid in the presence of my enemies
and teach them to sing my victory songs
Then with the best ensemble, I will dance to the tune of life majestically
